Studio Minidragon - High Quality Painted Miniatures

Commissioning Studio Minidragon to paint your figures is safe and easy!

Peace of Mind...

I know that hiring someone to paint your favorite figures can be a bit unsettling - what if you don't like the finished paint job, what if the figures are lost in the mail, how about shipping damage?

When you hire me to paint your figures I do all I can to eliminate these concerns. First, I'm always happy to acquire the figure you want painted myself - that will save you money on shipping and means that you aren't out anything if you don't like the finished project - I can do this because I know that even if the commissioner doesn't like something about the figure I can correct the issue or sell it to someone else. That's an advantage of high-quality paint work - there is always someone willing to buy it!

To further increase your peace of mind, I insure all shipments to the value of the commission. Let's face it, shippers like Fedex, UPS, and the Postal Service are very rough on packages - even the most securely packaged item can suffer damage. Shipping insurance helps here immensely - even if a figure is completely destroyed or lost you can recoup it's value.

The commission process

Each commission is unique. I know that every customer has very particular ideas about how they want a figure to look. To ensure that the figure you receive is exactly what you want I like to to take some time discussing the project with you before I ever open a bottle of paint. The work up front is always worth it!

The commission process generally begins with an inquiry from a customer - ie. "Can you paint a Great Imperial Grimgut for me?" I'll quickly reply with my current schedule (letting you know when I'd be able to start the project) and a ballpark estimate on the painting. After that, if you are still interested, we can begin discussing the details of the project and nail down a final price. Once we've agreed on the commission price I'll put the project into my schedule and acquire the figure (or you can ship one you've already got). Finally, when your project slot comes up I'll begin work on the figure and give you some updates as work progresses.

Typical Prices

It always helps to have some idea of what you can expect to pay for a commission. To that end, I've put together this generic list to give you a baseline. Please note that prices change with the complexity of the paint scheme, the level of detail on the figure, conversion work, and any freehand painting that you might like. A very detailed 28mm knight might cost more to paint than a big dragon depending on the details of the job.

  • NEW!!! World of Warcraft Miniatures Repaints $15-25
  • NEW!!! Unit Painting (5 figure minimum) $9-15 per figure
  • 28mm human sized figure (humans, orcs, elves, etc...) $65
  • 28mm humanoid cavalry (knights, wolf-riders, etc) $75
  • 28mm monster (ogres, trolls, warjacks, etc...) $85
  • Dragons (typical Reaper or Games Workshop type) $100
  • Dragons with riders $125
  • 6mm vehicles and infantry stands $15
  • 15mm vehicles and infantry stands $25

Shipping and Insurance are NOT included in these prices!! The two combined generally add about $10 to the commission price for domestic orders , though this will vary with your location and the value of the figure.

Payment

I always require payment before I ship a finished figure. Usually, I ask that you pay upon reviewing photos of the finished project. In some cases (very large projects) I may ask that you pay some portion of the project cost up front.

If you don't like the finished project I'll do all I can to make you happy with it - failing that I'll keep the project and sell it to another customer. You are at no risk of having to pay for something that isn't exactly what you've envisioned!! If you sent your own figures to be painted I'll refund the cost of the figures to you.

Finally, for payment I can accept Paypal, Money Orders, Cashiers checks, and Personal checks. Checks and money orders must be in U.S. funds. For personal checks I will delay shipping until your check has cleared.
